Actamol Syrup 100ml is a paracetamol-based medication used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever in children aged 3 months to 12 years. It is a sugar-free and tartrazine-free solution with a cherry flavor.
Active ingredient
Paracetamol (120 mg per 5 ml): A common analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer).
Indications
Pain relief: Eases discomfort from common childhood ailments like headaches, toothaches, and earaches.
Fever reduction: Helps lower fever associated with colds and flu.
Dosage for children
For accurate dosing, it is best to follow the instructions on the packaging or consult a healthcare provider. The standard recommendations for Actamol Syrup (120 mg/5 ml) are:
3 months to 1 year: 2.5 ml to 5 ml
1 to 5 years: 5 ml to 10 ml
6 to 12 years: 10 ml to 20 ml
Doses can be given every four to six hours, but should not exceed four doses in 24 hours.
Important warnings
Do not exceed the recommended dose: Overdosing on paracetamol can cause severe liver damage and may be fatal.
Consult a doctor for prolonged use: Do not use continuously for more than 10 days without medical consultation.
Do not mix with other paracetamol products: Many over-the-counter and prescription medications contain paracetamol. Taking multiple products with the same ingredient can cause an overdose.
Seek immediate medical help if overdose is suspected: In case of an overdose, contact a doctor or poison control center immediately, even if the person feels well.
Possible side effects
While generally well-tolerated, paracetamol can have side effects. Stop using the medication and seek medical attention if you notice:
Allergic reactions: Skin rash, hives, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue.
Signs of liver injury: Pain in the upper right abdomen, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or unusual tiredness.
Less common effects: Nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.
